Succeed by staying healthy
Whether you are aware of it or not, your health plays an important role in how you run your business, writes James Short.
In fact, it affects all aspects of your life and not just limited to your business endeavors. You might be tired of hearing and reading about how your physical, mental and emotional health should be priorities in your life, but the fact is, they should be.
If you want to be successful, you need to have a strong foundation. When it comes to business, a strong foundation means great processes or operations, finance and technology, among other things. What we frequently overlook is good health. It is time to change that. Having excellent health should be considered as one of the factors of having a successful business.
In this modern and competitive world, we sometimes take our physical and mental wellbeing for granted. Pushing ourselves to get to where we want to be is great, but how can we have the energy and the will to do that if we are not healthy? Like it or not, your state of health can and will affect your business.
Do you want to achieve success? Start by listening to your body and keeping it healthy.
A healthy attitude is contagious
Having a great mental state can affect how you run your company. It affects your overall performance and is a step in the right direction. A healthy attitude means that you tend to look on the brighter side of things. This does not mean completely ignoring failures. Rather, it is simply not dwelling too much on the negatives.
You learn from them, take the lessons that you learned from them and move on. This type of mindset also motivates you to become better. And the great thing about it is, it’s contagious. A leader with a healthy attitude will also have team members who share the same type of attitude. This is a sure win for everybody in your organisation.
As the owner of the company, you are the public image of your company. Think of all the big companies and their owners and leaders. SpaceX, Facebook and Microsoft. You probably thought Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates.
Aside from being successful, what do these three people have in common? All three look healthy. The point is public image matters, especially in this social media-heavy environment.
If you look sickly and you are in the business of health products, would the customers be enticed to purchase your products? Would investors do business with you if you seem to be in poor health? The answer would be no. Stay in top shape to be on top.
